What this program covers

Butler Community College's welding program offers three credential paths: an Associate of Applied Science (60 credit hours, hybrid delivery), Certificate A (19 credit hours, in-person, completable in as little as one semester), and Certificate B (36 credit hours, in-person). Instruction covers shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), plus arc gouging and CNC, plasma, and oxy-fuel cutting, with practice in vertical, horizontal, flat, and overhead positions. The college's separate Workforce Training catalog also lists a non-credit Weekend Welding Workshop covering MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, a 'Welding - AWS Certification' short course, and 'Welder Technician' course options.
