About Industrial Welders

Industrial Welders is an independent directory: 938 welding training programs nationwide and 1,178 own-site-verified local welding shops. We are not a school, we do not sell leads to schools, and we are not affiliated with the American Welding Society, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, or any listed institution.

This directory lists two kinds of entities, welding training programs and local welding shops, and verifies each one differently. No field is estimated: where we don't have a real number, the listing shows it as unavailable rather than guessing.

Welding programs

Program records come from IPEDS (CIP code 48.0508, Welding Technology), the U.S. Department of Education's federal reporting system for postsecondary institutions, cross-referenced with College Scorecard for tuition. 938 programs are on file; 916 publish a tuition figure. AWS Accredited Test Facility (ATF) co-location, shown on 126 programs, is computed by matching each institution against AWS's own published ATF Domestic Site Listing, not self-reported.

Where a program's own site was successfully crawled, a "Program details" section shows a factual summary (processes taught, schedule, certifications prepped) with a source link and the date it was retrieved. 678 programs have this section today; the rest show the federal data only, with no invented summary in its place.

Local welding shops

We list local welding shops at two trust levels, shown differently on the page so the difference is never hidden. 1,178 shops are marked own-site-verified, meaning we found the business's own website independently and confirmed its name, phone, and location directly on that site, not from a third-party directory or Google listing; these get a full listing card with phone, services, and a link to their own page.

1,186 more shops are basic listings, sourced from public directories but not yet independently checked against the business's own website. A basic listing shows only the name, city/state, and services if known, never a phone number or a website link, since only own-site-verification confirms those are current and correct. Basic listings render visually plain, with no individual page of their own. A metro or city gets its own page once at least three shops (verified plus basic combined) are on file there, so no page shows a false impression of coverage where we've barely started sourcing.

ZIP search & map data

The ZIP-code search pages are a browsing convenience, not a canonical listing page: they are marked noindex, work with a plain GET request so they function without JavaScript, and every verified result links back to that program's or shop's own permanent page. ZIP-code centroid coordinates come from GeoNames.org, used under CC BY 4.0. Map tiles are OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors.

Corrections & claims

If a listing is wrong, out of date, or should not be on the site, use the correction form or email [email protected] with the page URL and what's incorrect. We check every correction against the original source before changing or removing a listing. Own a listed welding shop? Use the claim form on that shop's page to request updates.
