What this program covers

TCAT Dickson's Welding Technology (Daytime) program is a 12-month, 1,296-clock-hour program (Monday-Friday, 8 AM-2:30 PM) at the Main Campus (740 Highway 46 South, Dickson) and Clarksville Campus (135 International Blvd). Students can earn individual certificates -- Shielded Metal Arc Welder (432 hours), Gas Metal Arc Welder (864 hours), Gas Tungsten Arc Welder (1,296 hours) -- or a Combination Welder diploma (1,296 hours). Instruction covers shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc, and flux-cored arc welding, plus cutting, grinding, metal preparation, blueprint reading, and pipe/valve/fitting installation. Curriculum was developed with input from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the Construction Industry Institute. An evening section (Mon-Fri 2:45 PM-9:15 PM) with the same credentials and hours is also offered.
