What this program covers

Somerset Community College offers a two-year AAS, a Combination Welder diploma, and up to 18 certificates covering Arc Cutter, Gas Metal Arc Welder, Gas Tungsten Arc Welder, Gas Welder, pipeline and tack welder variants, Welder Helper, Production Line Welder, and SENSE Level 1 Entry Welders. Students learn shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, and gas tungsten arc welding along with blueprint reading, shop mathematics, and mechanical drawing; pipe welding classes are noted as now available. The program operates at the Laurel and Somerset campuses.
